What is black seed oil?

Black seed oil is extracted from the seeds of Nigella sativa, a plant native to southwest Asia (commonly called black cumin). Also known as black cumin seed oil or kalonji oil , nigella sativa oil is an amber-hued oil used in cooking and offers a range of health benefits.

The oil contains 6.3% of volatile oil.

How does black seed oil taste?

The black seed oil varies in taste as well. Mild black seed oil has a less pungent flavor (1.2% volatile oil content). It is the volatile oil that creates the pungency in the taste and for those who do not like the taste, this is the oil to try. If the pungency is still a problem, then there are other options available, as capsules or the blessed seed honey mix.

What is thymoquinone used for?

One of the main compounds in black seed’s volatile oil, thymoquinone is a powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory compound and have a anti-tumor impact. It is also a pain reliever that can also slow the progress of infections.

What are the side effects of black seed oil?

The side effects of Black seed oil are mild and rare. There is occasional allergic skin reaction when topically applying black seed oil and consuming it excessively. If you take one or three teaspoons of the oil every day, you will be well within the safe dose. A study, ‘Acute and chronic toxicity of Nigella sativa fixed oil’ concluded that Nigella sativa has low toxicity showed by high LD50 values, essential hepatic enzyme stability, and organ integrity.
