About Black Seed

If you are interested in accessing the miraculous healing properties of the black seed, but are not sure where to start, take a look the guide below.

How to Choose a Good Oil

The oil made from the black seed  is more effective than eating the seeds, as it is more concentrated and is absorbed more readily. The best kind of black seed oil (BSO) is organic, slow cold-pressed oil with absolutely no additives. Any other extraction process produces an inferior oil that will not be as healthy for you. Try to obtain an oil whose volatile oil percentage has been analyzed after pressing; these oils are of higher quality, and, it is easier to control the dosage if you know the strength of your oil. A strong oil (1 – 4% volatile oil) should smell pungent, but not unpleasant.

How Much to Take?

When it comes to taking Black seed oil to improve health, there is no one set dosage for everybody. The amount you take depends on whether you are treating a specific ailment, or are just looking to boost your overall health. If it is a strong oil, consider starting with a few drops once a day for a week, then ½ tsp a day for a week, building up to a couple teaspoons per day. Do not exceed 3 teaspoons per day, especially of the strong oil. Do not take too much too fast; remember, Black Seed oil is an extremely potent natural oil. The oil has powerful antimicrobial and antifungal properties and can elicit a strong reaction if the dose is not built up gradually.

Generally, you should take one-three teaspoons 1-2 times a day, before meals.

For therapeutic doses (to treat disease), you can take black seed oil twice a day, on an empty stomach. For maintenance or preventative purposes, you can take it once a day.

Do not exceed more than three teaspoons per day. Remember, with a high-quality oil, more does not necessarily mean better.

Ways to Take Black Seed Oil

By Mouth

The first, and simplest way to take BSO would be to swallow some of the oil before your first meal of the day. Some might find the taste a bit pungent or bitter; you can also take the oil with some raw honey for more health benefits, or mix it into fresh juice or tea. It also works well blended into smoothies.

Topically

BSO can also be used topically with stunning results. The simplest method is to add a small amount of BSO to a neutral oil such as almond and massage into skin. You can also add a small amount to your moisturizer for glowing skin. Mix an equal amount of BSO with olive oil and massage into your hair and scalp, let it soak for 30 minutes and then wash your hair as normal, for beautiful shiny locks.

In Steam

For relief from a cough or the flu, warm the oil slightly, and rub on the chest. You can also steam with the oil; mix a few drops with boiling water in a bowl, and lean over the bowl with a towel over your head to breathe in the steam. This can be very beneficial for asthma sufferers, as it will help reduce inflammation and broaden airways for easier breathing. The oil also works wonderfully when mixed with another neutral oil to relieve muscle aches and pains. Mix equal amounts of BSO and a neutral oil such as olive or almond, and massage the area for pain relief.
